Shop smarter for food to reduce rubbish

There are lots of ads on TV at the moment from the ‘Kerbside Pride’ program featuring great ways to reduce your garbage and ideas to save you heaps of money.  When we throw food away we are not just throwing our own money away we throwing away the fuel and energy used to grow, produce and transport that food and collecting the rubbish from your bin.  Shop smarter by purchasing realistic amounts of food and check the use by dates on products to avoid them being spoiled before they are used.  If you have food scraps such as vegetable and fruit matter try using a compost bin to break them down and return the compost to your garden soil.   Aside from making your disposable rubbish load smaller, your plants will thank-you too!
